The Battery

The Battery is a small residential area within the city of St John's, Newfoundland.  It sits on the entrance to the harbour located on the slopes of Signal Hill. The Battery is noted for its steep slopes, colourful houses, and its importance as a battery for the defense of St. John's harbour in both World Wars.

  1. Beautiful shot of a beautiful scene John!

I'm always amazed at how much a few small bits of red here and there can add interest to a composition!

    Well done!

  2. Thanks Barry, Newfoundland is Canada's hidden treasure. It has mountain scenery , beautiful rivers and lakes, and of course coastal scenery unrivaled anywhere. But the most wonderful part of Newfoundland is its people, big hearts, big smiles and always happy.
I like some red in pictures, but I'm aware of its power to direct you away from a centre of interest.
